The Shoreline
Volume 5 Issue 7
♦ EDITOR’S CORNER
Is anyone hot out there? I must
say that summer has arrived with a
bang! What happened to Spring?
I know that everyone is aware now
that Summer is here, so are
tourists. This means traffic, Hnes
in restaurants and the grocery.
When you get frustrated,
remember this is all good for our
economy and that its just a little
while. I for one get a kick out of
people who have not been here
before and just cannot believe how
lovely our island is. Have a safe
and happy summer!

On July 4th, 1990, 29 children
and adults gathered at Garner
Park to participate in the first
annual PIKSCO July 4th Parade
- with decorated bikes and
wagons, flags waving and music
playing, the group marched
through town streets full of
patriotic spirit. Afterwards, dbe
Pledge of Allegiance and a nice
cold soda with old and new
friends rounded out the fun.
tEach year the parade has grown
in numbers, we've added
^ brownies for afterwards and, last
® year we had a police escort! The
■ parade is for children of all ages.
S Please join us this year on July
3rd, 10:007\M, at Garner Park.
t Bring a cold drink and your best
July 4th enthusiasm. The parade
^ will travel west on Oakleaf from
® Garner Park to Juniper, rightr on
» Cypress, right onto Cedar, then
^ right down to Oakleaf, return to
^ Garner Park. Should you wish
tto a spectator, we'll see you along
the parade route. Be sure to give
