FEBRUARY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETING TAX LIENS Tax collections for 1994 is 95% of the adjusted levy of $585,155. This leaves an uncollected balance of $16,183. The Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to advertise liens on those properties with unpaid taxes in the Carteret County News Times on March 5, 1995. CHANNEL DREDGING GRANT The 80% - 20% grant applied for from the Division of Water Resources, Department of Environment, Health and Natural Resources, to dredge the Bogue Sound Channel has been approved. Contracts will be let in the near future for the work to be completed. DRAINAGE EASEMENTS A discussion of the 1990 Storm Water Drainage Plan followed the re quest of a property owner in the area who wishes to withdraw the easement granted for that specific plan. Because the drainage project was aban doned and the easements granted were for that purpose only, the Board of Commissioners, on a split vote, carried the motion to remove the storm water drainage easements. LAND USE PLAN AMENDMENT The Coastal Resources Commission has approved amendments submitted to clarify marina development policies in the 1991-92 Land Use Plan. This will allow additional boat slips to be built at Hall Haven by Pine Knoll Association homeowners. SNACK SERVICE FOR AOUARIUM A public hearing will be held on March 14 at 2:00 p.m., prior to the Board of Commissioners meeting, to get public input on the request for the sale of snack foods at the N.C. Aquarium.
