PKS GARDEN CLUB The PKS Garden Club met Wednes day morning, Feb.8, at the Town Hall. Ken Gardner of New Bern was the featured speaker. Mr. Gardner, a native of Carteret County, opened the Plant Farm on the outskirts of New Bern in 1978. He specializes in growing his own plant stock and treating diseased and ailing plants Mr. Gardner said that most house plants will do well, if properly chosen for the place available-re- garding light, temperature, humidi ty and watered and fed properly. He displayed many house plants, in cluding the popular Boston fern, which he labeled the most killed by well-meaning owners. Judy Poit, 2nd V.P., chaired the ^ business meeting in the absence of Pres. Betty Stanton. She announced that the Garden Club will again sponsor an Arbor Day celebration for PKS. All resi- y dents are invited to be present on March 17. at 10; 00 a.m.. in front of Town Hall for the ritual tree planting. Lois Jean O'Keefe, Ann Hitch and Kit Blissert, members of the nomin ating committee, presented the following slate of officers for the 1995-96 club year. Election of officers will take place in March. The slate: Lois Jean O'Keefe, Pres. Claire Winslow, 1st V.P.;Judy Poit, 2nd V.P.; Recording Sec., Yvette Banning; Treas., Nan Gildner,; Corres. Sec., Joan Smith. Joan Dawson, Publicity REMEMBER; AQUARIUM'S FREE DAYS March 18 THE GARDEN CLUB ANNUAL PLANT SALE IS STARTING NOW AND WILL CON TINUE THROUGH APRIL 1, FOR PLACING ORDERS. GERANIUMS, BEGONIAS, IMPA- TIENS AND CALADIUMS WILL BE OF FERED, AS WELL AS 3 POPULAR HERB PLANTS - BASIL PARSLEY AND THYME. IF YOU ARE NOT CONTACTED BY A MEMBER BEFORE APRIL 1ST, YOU MAY ORDER PLANTS BY CALLING NAN GILDNER (247-2975) OR LOIS JEAN O'KEEFE (247-4100). PINE KNOLL SHORES EMS #65 PKS Sguad #65 held its monthly meeting on Feb. l, at 7:00 p.m. at Town Hall. There were 7 calls in January. We have ordered and received all the supplies that have been ap proved by the grant from the State. This includes EMT winter jackets, EMT responder bags, that are com plete with supplies needed, and a pulse oximeter with carrying case. These supplies will enable us to give the best care to our patients. The Sguad is always ready to serve the community when needed. Anyone interested in joining and being a part of our group of well trained and dedicated members, just call Town Hall or chief Wimberley. tNote: If assistance is needed at home getting a loved one back in bed, or someone has , fallen and can't get up, call us!
