FILING PERIOD MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS The Carteret County Board of Elections has advised the town of the f iling period for the of f ice of Commissioner for the 1995 Municipal Elections. FILING OPENS 12 NOON FRIDAY, JULY 7 FILING CLOSES 12 NOON FRIDAY, AUG. 4 BEACH EROSION COMMITTEE At the monthly Tovm Board Meeting, Dr. Ruth Evans Sweeny described what the Beach Erosion Committee has accomplished over the past year. An outgrowth of this committee is the recently formed Beach Preservation Association, comprised of residents interested in the preservation of our beaches. She requested the ad hoc committee be dissolved, but stated that the Association would be happy to serve as an advisory group to the Board of Commissioners. PINE KNOLL SHORES EMS SQUAD #65 The monthly meeting of the EMS "''^lad was June 7, 1995 at 7:00 p.m. the Town Hall. Wade Lamson, who plans to enroll in an EMT class in the fall was welcomed as a guest. Election of Chief and Assistant Chief for 1995/96 was held. The vote was unanimous for Teddy Wimberley, Chief, and Norm Trommer, Assistant Chief. Members of the Squad were thanked for their help with "Mile of Hope" and "Kids Fest." "EMS Appreciation Day" was reviewed. The squad thanks all the residents who came by. Special thanks to the "Women's Club" and the "Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary" for their help. The weather was perfect and the day a great success. The state passed inspection on both ambulances. The Inspector commented that it was a pleasure to inspect our ambulances because they were clean and in order! We are all proud to be on a squad that radiates our accomplishments, which are the result of the teamwork of all our members. There were 9 runs in May. P.S. We still have "Safety Tapes" to give out. Pick up one at Town Hall or ask a member of the Squad. Just a Thought: "If you are too busy to feel miserable, you will be happy!" PKS EMS #65 is a "Happy Squad." PKS FIRE DEPARTMENT STATION #64 Fifteen members of the Pine Knoll Shores Fire Department attended training sessions sponsored by the Carteret County Fire Chief's Association at Carteret Community College for 14 hours on May 27 and 28. Dave Gildner, Lee Ivey, Jack Thompson, Hank Gotard, Lou Tresino, Bruce Cornelius, Dick Reeves and Joe Corcoran participated in classes dealing with Propane gas fires. Duke Foulk, Bruce Flynt, Bob Smith and Beal Marks attended classes of pump operation and maintenance while Lt. Frank Herbst, Captain DeVan Barbour and Asst. Chief Andy Turney developed their skills in Communications and Incident Command. All training involved both class room instruction as well as practi cal application of the presented material.
