Hurricane Awareness Meeting Wednesday, June 12, 1996 7:30 P.M. Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium Do you know where you will go when you are informed to leave PKS in the event of a hurricane??? Do you know how you will be informed when it is time to leave??? Do you know what to have in your home so you can live in it, without running water or electricity, when you return??? Some of the questions and many others will be answered at our annual Hurricane Awareness Meeting which will be held at the North Carolina Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores at 7:30 pm on Wednesday June 12. It is important for the safety of your family that you know how to react when you are asked to leave Bogue Banks island when a hurricane or other storm is expected to hit. "Be prepared" Come with your questions and we will do our best to provide you with the answers. PINE KNOLL SHORES EMS SQUAD #65 The Squad's monthly meeting was May 7th, 1996 at Town Hall. Commissioner Emily White gave each member a paper, "Responsibilities of Emergency Management Volunteers", listing duties of volunteers in case of a hurricane. A picture of the squad will be in the local paper with the news release announcing the grant received for our newest ambulance. We have new patches for our uniforms similar to those worn by the police and fire departments. We will wear them with pride. Members that helped with the "Mile of Hope" were thanked for donating their time. They were, Lois and Bill Strube, Charlie and Patti Swetz, Marian Walker, Lois Heffelfinger, Teddy Wimberley and Wade Lamson. Elections for the 1996/1997 Officers were held. The results were: Chief-Teddy Wimberley, Asst. Chief-Marion Walker, Secretary-Patti Swetz, Treasurer-Lois Heffelfinger. Plans for EMS week were discussed. The squad will have the ambulances for viewing, taking blood pressures, and giving out balloons and other informative information. DATE: MAY 25TH PLACE: BROCK BASIN TIME: 1PM-3PM. Please plan to come to this event. Meet the squad members and show your appreciation for their dedication of service in Pine Knoll Shores. Teddy Wimberley PINE KNOLL SHORES WOMEN'S CLUB The Pine Knoll Shores Women's Club will close the 1995-96 season with an annual meeting and luncheon Friday, June 7, at the Dunes Club in Atlantic Beach. Wine will be served at 11:30 a.m., with a chicken salad luncheon to follow at noon. The afternoon will be highlighted by installation of new officers and a musical program of show tunes and light opera presented by pianist Marge Sellers of Pine Knoll Shores and Soprano Laura Reinhardt Steele. Ms. Steele is the daughter of incoming president Joan Lamson. In addition to Mrs. Lamson, new officers to be installed are Nancy Forster, vice-president; Barbara Flynt, secretary, and Betty Herrmann, treasurer. The cost of the luncheon, including wine, muffins and dessert, is $12, payable in advance. For reservations, call Barbara Flynt or Bobbie Riggs. This event is open to members only.
