Bernie and Marcia are avid Pittsburgh Steelers fans. They had season tickets to all the football games and were probably the Steelers biggest fans. Bernie is a commercial pilot with a multi-engine and instrument rating. He built his own personal computer, from scratch. He is a fisherman, currently looking for an off-shore boat. In between times he enjoys reading. Marcia is fascinated with the birds around their home. She is an avid bird watcher, reads and is currently settling into their new home. We are so happy they are here. Judy Poit Muriel and Glenn Thatcher live at 136 Lagoon Drive. They moved here in September 1992. Glenn was raised in Canton, Ohio, and Muriel in Maplewood, Nj. Glenn was a college professor in technology, quality control and technical writing at Kean College of New Jersey for 25 years and taught teachers for the Department of Education. They lived in Scotch Plains, NJ. They have a daughter Laura, married to John Grace, who lives in Morehead City with their three children Jesse, Melissa and Amanda. Son, Scott, married to jean, lives in Greenville, NC and they have no children. Glenn loves wood working. He makes gorgeous inlaid furniture, carves duck decoys, weaves Nantucket baskets, carves walking canes, beautiful Scrimshaw and sandblasts signs. He is a master of whatever he does. They both enjoy yard sales. Muriel has just finished publishing a book titled, "Math Advantage K Thru 8 Textbook Series . She does in-service training for math teachers. She wrote the computer badge, math badge and Miss Fitit for the Girl Scouts. She just recently completed her doctorate in Math at Rutgers University. If one calls their home and asks for Dr. Thatcher be sure and include the first name because there are now two doctors in the house. Muriel has just received the distinguished alumni award from Montclair in Math and from Rutgers In Education. They also love to canoe and camp. They are such happy people and love life to the most. They were good friends and neighbors to Ken and Yola Hanan in New jersey and came down to visit the Hanans 15 years ago and decided to settle here and they love it. They can't get over what charming people there are in McGinnis Point. An interesting tidbit - Muriel worked with the Girl Scout Organization and the Department of Interior on a primitive island in the Pacific, the Mariana and Carolina Island teaching nutrition and leadership training in 1970. These are two of the most talented people I've met and absolutely a pleasure to talk to. Betty Lee Foulk
