IT'S HURRICANE SEASON AGAIN
WHERE IS YOUR HURRICANE PASS?
JANUARY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETING
WATER REPORT
The Appellate Court has deferred their decision on the Declaratory Judgement back to the
lower court, which had ruled in favor of the Town earlier. This Judgement had to do with an
agreement between Carolina Water Service and approximately 700 residents in the eastern
section of Town. The Rural Development Commission has approved the final environmental
assessment study and the Town is now in the process of completing the necessary steps that
are required to receive the money. A final letter, with a purchase offer, has been mailed to
Carolina Water Service with a reply requested within seven days.
SAND FENCING AND BEACH GRASS
The N.C. Dept, of Environment and Natural Resources has approved 4,200 linear feet of
of sand fencing and planting of beach grass for the proactive stabilization of the dunes for Pine
Knoll Shores. This means the Town is eligible to receive $8,505 for funding of this project
after three bids are submitted to this department. The Board of Commissioners voted to have
a five member committee appointed, which would be a representative from the Beach
Preservation Association, Beacon's Reach Masters Association, PKA and PIKSCO, with Code
Enforcement Officer Brownlow serving an an advisory capacity.
