Women's Club
The next meeting of the
PKS Women's Club will be
held at the Town Hall at 9:30
a.m. on Friday, March 27. The program is
entitled "I Claudia, a Look at Women in Early
Rome," presented by the North Carolina Art
Institute.
The Lunch-Bunch chairman has arranged a
special lunch at the Town House Restaurant in
downtown Morehead. The Restaurant will
prepare a Lebanese plate consisting of a
marinated grilled chicken breast wrapped in
pita bread, house green salad with fresh lemon,
garlic and oil dressing, and a zucchini fritter for
$4.95. Reservations for this special must be
made ahead of time. Call Chairman Lonnie
Werdel at 240-1278 by Tuesday, March 24.
Others may go and order from the menu.
Please see Lonnie before the meeting if you
would like to go but have not reserved the
special.
Reservations are still being taken for the
late summer trips that are being sponsored by
Accent Travel and will benefit the club's
Scholarship Fund. The first tour includes Salt
Lake City, the Grand Teton's, Yellowstone
National Park, and Mount Rushmore and is
from August 28 to September 5. The second
tour goes to Phoenix, the Grand Canyon, Bryce
and Zion National Parks and Las Vegas, from
September 5 to September 12. These two tours
can be combined or taken singly. Further

These trips are not just for club members, but
are open to anyone who would like to
participate.
There has been a good response for items
to the Domestic Violence Center. Please
continue to bring to the meeting such things as
cosmetics, toiletries, OTC medications,
disposable diapers, batteries, and unused
prescription medications for the Broad Street
Clinic.

What^s New!
Watch for news of the refurbished
auditorium which will soon be announced.
This renovation will be a boon to area artists
and those who enjoy the exhibits displayed at
the library.
Exhibits During February:
jani Prete, whose watercolors will be
exhibited in the auditorium during March, has
studied with Steve Jordan and Charles Sharp.
She has also been inspired and encouraged by
Georgia Mason. Ms. Prete's enthusiasm for
watercolors stems from the freedom felt in
using this medium. Jani Prete is a member of
the Arts Council of Carteret County and of the
Carteret County Arts and Crafts Coalition. Her
watercolors are exhibited in local and seasonal
shows.
Brigitte Turner is a multiple media artist
whose works will also be on display in March
at the Bogue Banks Branch Library. Ms Turner
has studied watercolor, drawing and sketching,
oil painting, and art appreciation and art
history. She has had exhibitions in California,
Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.
In the display cabinets will be Darlene
Debardilen's original poetry, written in
calligraphy, and individually framed.
New Books at Boeue Banks:
Mysteries are front and center choices this
month. Denis Hamill, author of the popular
"House on Fire," has an exciting new suspense
in "Three Quarters." In the third of her Jane
Austen's mystery series, author Stephanie
Barron's new story is "Jane and the Wandering
Eye." Iris Johansen adds "And Then You Die"
to her popular "Beloved Scoundrel," "Dark
Rider," and "Lion's Bride." Other new mystery
