The proposed budget for FY 1998-99 was presented to the Board of

remain at 16 cents per one hundred dollars valuation. The proposed budget for FY
1998-99 is $1,588,101. The budget hearing is scheduled for June 9, 1998, at 2:00
p.m. Citizens are invited to make written or oral comments.
Following the Budget Hearing, there will be a Public Flearing to consider the
Town's acquisition of a strip of land on the western side of McNeil Inlet 10 feet wide
from McNeil Inlet Bridge to Bogue Sound.
BEACH RENOURISHMENT
The Board of Commissioners voted to support the one time beach
replenishment project, proposed by the Carteret County Board of Commissioners.
Funds would come from the State and Federal level except for $500,000 which the
county and towns in the county would be responsible for. This project will only be
successful with the cooperation of all the municipalities in the county.
