Submitted by: Marilyn Smetana Opening - Board of Adjustment There are two openings on the Board of Adjustment for Alternates to fill terms expiring in September 1999 and September 2000. The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-legal Board, which rules on requests for variances, etc. and meets once a year plus anytime there is a request for a ruling. PKS Police Dept's Provide-A-Ride If you park on Pine Knoll Boulevard while attending the ZS*" Anniversary Celebration the PKS Police Department will provide-a-ride to the door of Town Hall and back to your vehicle when desired. Police Dept. Welcome aboard to our new Officers. Officer Tyron Mann has been on our Reserve Force for approximately one year and is a native of the area. Tyron is from Morehead City, a graduate of West Carteret High School and has completed almost two years of credits towards his Criminal Justice Degree from Carteret Community College. "Bruno" has been in Law Enforcement for over a year and is a graduate of numerous training schools and academies. You should be able to recognize Bruno because hell be the one in the BACK seat of K-9 Officer Ethan Hazard's patrol vehicle! Bruno is our K-9 and is a beautiful white Gennan Shepard and is a fully trained patrol dog. Both Ethan and Bruno have a proven track record with successful captures of criminals, locating lost children and adults, drug and evidence seizures, as well as, numerous successful county-wide training exercises. Ethan is no stranger to the island either - he started his career at Emerald Isle PD and has ten years of experience. Officer Lee Rice was on the Reserve Force for three years and is a former active full time member of the US Coast Guard. Lee is a native of Carteret County and is still active with the Coast Guard Reserves. Lee has distinguished himself while a Police Officer for PKS and has numerous military awards. Summer is here and our traffic and transient population has increased. Please contact the PD (247-4353 during business hours or Communications 504-4800 after business hours) if you have traffic concerns or if you notice anyone suspicious or unusual activities around PKS.
