There are times when a Pine Knoll Shores resident requires our assistance for a transport in a non-emergency situation. We are most willing to help but we ask that we be contacted directly rather than through the emergency 9-1-1 phone number. If you are unable to contact us at our home (Chief's number is: 808-3374, and Assistant Chiefs number is: 247- 5540), you may be put in touch with us by calling the Town Hall. Squad #65 responded to 7 Medical Emergencies, 1 Transport, and 1 Fire call in November. T[ from the PKS Police Dept... "he Pine Knoll Shores Police Department wishes all of you a safe and happy holiday season. Please remember to stop by the Town Hall and fill out an "Out of Town Request" form and the PKS Police Department will check your house. Your Police Department is continuing to participate in North Carolina's "Click it or Ticket" and "Booze it and Lose it" campaigns. While North Carolina has one of the highest seat belt use rates in the nation, we cannot ignore the daily news reports about unbuckled drivers and passengers who were killed or seriously injured in car crashes. Perhaps you or someone you know has suffered such a loss. We need to put a stop to such tragedies by increasing seat belt and child seat use, and we need to start right here in Pine Knoll Shores. That's why I ask that you join me in supporting our "Click it or Ticket" and "Booze it and Lose it" campaigns. It is important that we stand together in support of these campaigns, and for the officers whose dedication and diligence have made it a national model for highway safety. These checkpoints have helped to save lives and prevent injuries. The checkpoints in Pine Knoll Shores have resulted in taking intoxicated drivers off the road, located dangerous felons and fugitives and confiscated illicit drugs. The importance of these campaigns cannot be overstated. We're serious about seat belts, child seats and intoxicated drivers in our town. Especially with the holidays and increased travel, it is important that all motorists buckle up and have a designated driver. It's the most effective way to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways. Submitted by: Police Chief Maty Muhlig 1
