Welcome New Residents Vic and Pat Filan moved into their lovely new home at 124 Mimosa Boulevard last June. They came to us from Kinnelon, New Jersey, near Wayne. Vic was a senior system analyst for 35 years at PSE&G In Newark, New Jersey. He is now retired. Pat was a homemaker until her four children were grown. She then enrolled at William Patterson College, majoring in Art, and she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree the same day that her daughter received her degree. What a splash that made in the newspapers! Pat taught Art for a little while but became interested in being her own boss so she would have the flexibility to travel. A cosmetic company, JOFRA, afforded her that opportunity and she was involved with managing the firm and selling cosmetics for fifteen years. Pat has four children. The oldest, Alfred, is a computer programmer, but his real love is music. He is married and lives in Plainfield, NJ. They have a son, Nicholas, who is 11 months and are expecting their second child (probably a girl) this month. Pat has a daughter, Janice, who is a nurse. She is married and lives in Florida, NY. She has three little boys ages 9-4-3. Her next child is a son, David, who is an electrical engineer. He is single and lives in Kinnelon, NJ. He bought an old home and has restored it to beyond its original grandeur. Her last child is Barbara who is married and lives in Montville, NJ. Barbara has four children, 3 girls and 1 boy. Vic was born and raised in East Orange, NJ. He has 3 brothers and 5 sisters. He served in the Army in the Korean conflict. He has 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls, and two grandchildren. Both Vic and Pat lost their spouses but they were fortunate to have met each other and they have been happily married for 11 years. The name "Filan" is known to all of us in PKS. Vic and Pat visited John, Vic's brother, and Madeleine, his wife, on Locust Court, some years' ago and Vic just loved the area. Bill, another brother, and Betty, his wife, moved to Live Oak Court about three years' ago. Vic wanted to be near his brothers and the lure of PKS brought Pat and Vic down here permanently last spring. Vic was involved with the Kinnelon Volunteer Fire Company in New Jersey for 10 years and he has joined the PKS fire department. He was a long distance runner, an amateur actor, sang bass in the church choir, enjoyed bowling, tennis, fishing, boating, swimming, biking, bridge and hunting. In PKS he plays golf and enjoys the Sports Club. As Pat said, "He does everything." Pat is a gourmet cook, is involved with the church in the Bell Choir and the Altar Guild and just about anything else where she can help. She enjoys bridge, tennis, bowling, painting and swimming. She plays the piano and also enjoys the Sports Club. We welcome these active and personable folks to PKS. Submitted by: Judy Poit Happy New Year!
