February Board of Commissioners Meeting
Public Hearing
There was a public hearing February 9 prior to the Pine Knoll Shores
Board of Commissioners Meeting on two items: first, an amendment
to Chapter XV, section 15-3, of the Municipal Code relating to the installation
of sewage treatment plants within the Town; second, an extension of six-
months to a moratorium on construction of Wireless Telecommunication
Towers. The Board later voted in favor of amending chapter XV, section 15-3,
of the Municipal Code and to extending the moratorium on construction of
Wireless Telecommunication Towers.
Resolution
The Board of Commissioners voted to adopt a resolution opposing the
Coastal Resources Commission's proposed estuarine shoreline
regulation changes. The proposal includes implementation of a fifteen percent
lot coverage maximum, requirement of a seventy-five foot buffer adjacent to
all estuarine water bodies, and regulations that restrict the use of wooden
bulkheads in the estuarine area of environmental concern.
