Submitted by: Police Chief Mary IMuhlig The PKS Fire Auxiliaty will hold a garage sale at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, May at the PKS Town Hall. Anyone who would like to donate items should contact either Barbara Flynt (726-6712) or Dell Ericksen (247-7132). Proceeds will benefit our dedicated volunteer firemen. ' ibrarian Susan W. Simpson reports that recovery efforts at Bogue Banks Library continue but completion is in sight. Tentative plans are now for the library to reopen for half days (8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) the first part of April. When all repairs and replacements are completed, the library will resume its regular hours. In the local newspapers, please consult "At the Library", which contains information on the library calendar. r Hit The Bogue Banks Public Library is a branch of the Carteret County Public Library in Beaufort and is affiliated with the Craven- Pamlico-Carteret Regional Library. pring begins in earnest this month at the Aquarium. April 3 is the date for the Alligator Easter Egg Hunt. Youngsters can meet and greet a live alligator, win prizes, make an egg hunt souvenir, and head outside to search for gator eggs. The action begins at 9 a.m. and is designed for ages 4-6. Advance registration and a $3 fee are required. April 22 is Earth Day, when all visitors are admitted free to the Aquarium. Activities include: marine life videos. Aquarium Jeopardy, and an "Educator's Choice" program. Beach walks, fossil digs, forest hikes, and canoe outings are also on the calendar, and on April 16 we take our first day-long trip of the season to Cape Lookout, a wonderful place to greet spring. For a complete list of spring activities, stop by and pick up a calendar, or call 247-4003 and request one by mail. Inside the Aquarium, a new "Crevice Dwellers" exhibit is under way. Located adjacent to the "'Living Shipwreck," the exhibit will highlight the hidden world of octopuses and eels. Outside, a new snake exhibit is under construction on the Salt Marsh Safari boardwalk. An enclosed exhibit, the display will feature live snakes Indigenous to coastal maritime forests.
