The Community Appearance Commission is in the process of updating the booklet "Guidelines to Building and Gardening in Pine Knoll Shores". These booklets are available at the counter in the reception area at Town Hall. 2. The CAC is investigating the requirements for earning the designation of "Tree City USA" for Pine Knoll Shores. Oriental is one local area that presently has this designation. 3. The Community Appearance Commission is also working toward having sea oats removed from an exempt status in Carteret County, so they would be protected by law. Carteret County is exempt from the law protecting sea oats according to the General Statutes in North Carolina Criminal Law and Procedure. The Community Appearance Commission meets the 5'^^ Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. The Community Appearance Commission would like to thank residents for their contributions oj comments and suggestions. These comments and suggestions will be considered and acted upon accordingly by the Commission. Nanning Board The Pine Knoll Shores Planning Board has the following items on their agenda. 1. There has been a request to change the ordinance regarding the size of docks permitted in the canal. The ordinance presently limits docks to 20' with a width of no more than 6' which is equivalent to a 120 sq. ft. dock. 2. The Planning Board is currently looking into the issue of requiring bulkheading of all canal front lots within a designated period of time. 3. The Planning Board at the request of the Community Appearance Commission is looking into the problem of trailers being used by hotels/motels as storage units instead of being removed after a project has been completed. 4. The Board of Commissioners sent a complaint of large vehicles being parked on public street rights-of-way to the Planning Board for review. The Planning Board is investigating the options and possible solutions. The Planning Board meets the 2'“^ Tuesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. The Board of Adjustment meets as necessary the Tuesday of the month at 9:00 a.m.
