Page 2 The ShOTClinC November, 1999 Planning Board The Board of Commissioners selected J.D. Woolard to fill the seat of Chairman to the Planning Board. According to the County Agriculture Extension Service, the culprit for the first four species (and maybe for the latter two - this is being investigated) appears to be the black twig borer. This black beetle drills into twigs and introduces a fungal "ambrosia" on which the offspring feed after hatching within the twigs. (The eggs can develop until the weather cools off and after it warms up in the spring.) Current control consists of pruning back and destroying infested limbs, and using a spray of wettable Dursban: 1. Dursban Pro 22.5% emulsifiable concentrate as 5 1/3 oz. per gallon of water - or 2. Dursban 4E 44.9% emulsifiable concentrate as 2 2/3 oz. per gallon of water - or 3. Dursban 50W Nursery 50% wettable powder as 16 lbs. per 100 gallons of water - or 4.
