Page 2 The Shoreline January, 2000 Planning Board 1) The issues of Bulkheading Cana! Front Lots, Bulkheading Sound Front Lots and Condo-Tels were all tabled to give Planning Board members time to review information submitted by the town attorney before discussing further. 2) A sub-committee of three from the Planning Board will be reviewing a proposed tree ordinance submitted by the Community Appearance Commission. A specific tree ordinance should better the chances of PKS becoming a " Tree City USA' designee as well as make the town eligible for certain grants, according to the Community Appearance Committee. Community Appearance Commission 1) A motion passed to accept and include the revised list of plants of special concern in the Guidelines to Building and Gardening in Pine Knoll Shores Booklet. 2) The Garden Club has agreed to assist in distribution of over 1000 tree seedlings donated to the Community Appearance Commission by the North Carolina Department of Forestry. They also agreed to appoint a three member committee to give information on how to plant a tree to anyone who would like some advice. December 10, 1999 Dear Residents of Pine Knoll Shores, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you and good bye to the many friends I have made in Pine Knoll Shores and in the adjoining towns. You have been supportive to me and I appreciate your kindness. Many of you have welcomed me into your homes with open arms, making my job more enjoyable. As I enter a different type of police work, I will never forget the experiences that I have had in your quaint seaside town. We have had a difficult year both on personal notes and as a law enforcement community and you the residents and the PKS staff have helped us to cope with our losses. Your police department thanks you for your thoughts and prayers and the genuine kindness you displayed. Again, we wish all of you a wonderful holiday and a great New Year. We look forward to "protecting and serving" our community in the year 2000. The Pine Knoll Shores Police Department would like to wish Donald Collins well as he leaves us to join the Carteret County Sheriff's Department. The department and the community will miss Don. We would like to introduce our new Police Officer, Ray A. Meyer. Ray has been a reserve officer for two years with the Indian Beach Police Department and has worked closely with the members of this department. Ray will retire from the US Navy after 20 years of service in January. Ray has two years college and is working towards his BS degree Criminal Justice. Ray is married to Candy Meyer and they have two daughters, Samantha and Andrea. Ray loves working on the beach and we're excited about him joining our family. Welcome aboard Ray! PKS Police Dept...
