Page 5 The Shoreline August, 2000 SPECIAL MEDICAL ^ NEEDS , Emergency Management of Carteret County has announced that those residents that need special assistance during a storm will no longer be taken in at the hospital. (oxygen, dialysis etc.) The Leon Mann Center (3820 Galantis St., Morehead City 247-2626) will be staffed with nurses and special equipment to assist special needs patients. Pine Knoll Shores residents needing such assistance are urged to pre register by either stopping by the hospital to complete a short form, or by contacting Ted Lindblad (240-0580) of the PKS Emergency Squad. While we ask that all residents follow an evacuation order, special needs residents should evacuate prior to a threat of bridge closing. It is important to note that once an evacuation is ordered by the mayor, fire and Emergency medical services are limited. Do you have a hurricane reentry permit? If so, do you know where It is? NO REENTRY PERMITS will be issued once an evacuation order is given. COMMUNICATION DURING A HURRICANE We have completed arrangements with CHANNEL 12 to be the official TV station for PKS should we have a hurricane. Emergency Management of PKS will communicate directly with the newsroom, as an evacuation is ordered, to announce a curfew, or when residents will be allowed back in town etc. Channel 12 will immediately communicate that information. We urge you to keep up to date on Town information by watching Channel 12 during a pending Hurricane or other disaster. The above information will also be available by calling Town Hall. Prior and after the storm volunteers will answer your calls. During the storm, Emergency Management folks will answer the phones and frequently update the message on the answering machine.
