NORTHCAROLINA
AQUARIUMS
The Aquarium has been anxiously awaiting spring
to get back outside! Tidal excursions, canoe
outings, marsh and sound adventures, and trips to
Cape Lookout and Hammock Beach are all on the
April calendar. Now's the time for locals to take
advantage of these exciting adventures and sign
up before the tourists arrive and fill up all the
spaces!
Other outdoor activities are in store, too. On April
14, Easter weekend, youngsters ages 4 to 6 can
search the aquarium grounds to help Affie the
alligator find her eggs. They'll also learn a bit about
alligators, see a live alligator up close and make a
craft souvenir to take home. Cost is $4 and early
Iregistration is advised.
Don't be surprised on Saturday, April 21, if you see
a fleet of runners zipping through town. That's
.when the Aquarium will stage its first Earth Day
'pun Run. The run will begin at 9 a.m. and last until
approximately 11:00 a.m. The course includes
Roosevelt Dr., Pine Knoll Blvd., Ramsey and
Arborvitae Drives, Ft. Macon Road, and Mimosa,
Beechwood, Sycamore, Hawthorne, Oakleaf, and
Loblolly Drives. A detailed map is available at the
aquarium. For safety and convenience, local law
enforcement has kindly agreed to assist with
traffic. Consider signing on and trying your luck at
winning some neat prizes.
Earth Day is April 22 and the Aquarium will
celebrate the wonders of Mother Nature. Visitors
will be admitted free and live animal programs,
craft activities, games and other events will fill the
day.
The Aquarium's spring calendar, listing all activities
’March through May, is now available. Stop by and
pick up a copy, or call 247-4003 to request a
calendar by mail. Aquarium activities are also
available on our Web site at www.ncaQuariums.com.
