Three Pine Knoll Shores Commissioners' terms expire this year.
The filing period for anyone interested in running for Commissioner
begins July 6 at noon and ends August 3 at noon.
Be sure you are registered to vote.

A public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. during the regular Board of Commissioners
meeting, on the replacement of the Oakleaf Drive Bridge. There will also be a public hearing on the Capital
Project Budget Ordinance for Beach Renourishment, during the July 10'^'^ meeting.
There was a public hearing on the 2001-2002 proposed budget. There was a difference from the budget
presented in May. This difference was due to the purchase of the Wachovia Bank building, which has a closing
date of July 1^. The 2001-2002 fiscal year budget increased by $560,000 for a total budget of $2,716, 280. The
tax rate will remain at 15(t per $100 valuation. The budget was approved unanimously.
Evan Roderick was sworn in as Commissioner of Planning and Inspections for the remainder of Carl Heffelfinger's
term. Evan has previously served in this position.
Garbage and Recycling must be placed by the curb for pickup before 7:00 a.m. on the day
of scheduled pickup. Large items (whitegoods, such as washers, dryers, etc.) disposal
should be handled by the owner. Waste Industries will pick large items up for a fee - call
223-4176. DO NOT place large items at curbside for pickup unless you have made
arrangements for the item to be picked up.
