Schedules to Remember:
Recycling will return to its regular schedule of every other Thursday beginning on September 13**’. Regular
garbage pickup will return to the schedule of every Monday beginning in September. Garbage will be picked
up on Labor Day. Yard Waste pick up is the last Tuesday of each month.
August Board of Commissioners Meeting
Town Hall Parking
Richard Vesely, Designer, Island Property Enterprises, Inc. gave a presentation of the possibilities for additional
parling at Town Hall. IMr. Vesely advised the Board and citizens that the best area for additional parling is to
the rear of the Town Hall and behind the employee parking area. Twenty-five additional parking spaces could
be located without substantial grading to the area, with a possibility of 32 spaces.
Public Beach Access
The Town has opened its first public beach access. The access is located just west of the Iron Steamer.
Street Repaving
The conclusion drawn after recent rains is that the street paving and drain installation on a couple of our streets
has all but eliminated storm water collecting in those areas prone to ponding.
Public Safety Building
An Architect has been hired and the Town is proceeding with plans to renovate the Public Safety Building to
house Emergency l^edical Services, Fire and Police.
Pine KnoH Shores Hotel Site Plan
The Board of Commissioners gave their seal of approval to the site plan for Pine Knoll Shores Hotel.
Hurricane Preuardness
Director Melby informed the Board and citizens that the essential personnel list had been updated and the Post
Disaster Plan is underway with participants being advised as to the operations and implementation of the plan.
Sguad 65 Bv-Laws
The Board of Commissioners approved changes to Squad 65 By-Laws as recommended.
