August Work Session / September Board of Commissioners Meeting
il Two public hearings will be held at the September 25th Board of Commissioners' Work Session; one
concerning an amendment to the telecommunications ordinance to allow stealth antennas within MF-1
zoning district and one concerning body piercing and tattoo regulations.
11 The Board of Commissioners passed a moratorium on locating body piercing and tattooing
businesses within Pine Knoll Shores.
11 Resolution passed authorizing the sale of certain surplus property - obsolete equipment.
I Resolution passed authorizing the sale of certain personal property by private sale - police cars.
[1 The Board approved site plan revisions for Landscapes By The Sea.
II The Board approved reappointment of Planning Board members - Ray Churchill, Andy Chused, John Terrell
and J.D. Woolard for a two-year term. J. D. Woolard was also approved as Chairman to the Planning Board
a one-year term.
il The Board approved reappointment of alternate members, Susan Kirkpatrick and Norman Meyers, for a
three-year term to the Community Appearance Commission.
Il Representatives from Coastal Science and Engineering made a presentation on Bogue Banks Beach
Nourishment Project - Phase 1 which includes Town of Pine Knoll Shores and Town of Indian Beach. The
issue was discussed at length concerning the status of permits, project plans and specifications, bid and
mobilization schedule, etc.
B Resolution passed to approve the final plans submitted by Coastal Science and Engineering for the Beach
Protection Project.
[1 Resolution passed designating the Town Administrator to sign papers and to otherwise represent the Board
in connection with Mosquito Control.
il Resolution passed authorizing the disposition of obsolete equipment consisting of one nonfunctional gasoline
pump.
i The verdict from the Appellate Court regarding Pine Knoll Shores versus Carolina Water was 3-0 in favor of
the town. Carolina Water has thirty days from the time the verdict is filed at the local courthouse to appeal
that decision to the Supreme Court.
B The Web Page has had 3500 hits in the first two months. Those using the Town web page
WWW, townofpks . com can check the bulletin board to get up to date information before receiving the
information in the Shoreline.
il A motion passed appointing Mayor C. Reese Musgrave and George Herrmann to serve on the newly formed
Beach Commission, which stemmed from the Occupancy Tax Bill.
il A second Public Beach Access has been agreed upon. This access is being provided by the Trinity Center
Episcopal Dioceses. The Town Attorney is now working on the details.
