usually the following month. Want more details - All Meetings are open
to the public except on occasion when the Board of Commissioners meet
in Closed Session as authorized by State General Statutes. Remember,
computers with internet access are available for use at Bogue Banks
Public Library if you don't have one at home.
February Board of Commissioners Meeting
i There was a Public Hearing on a proposed amendment to the zoning ordinance to change the setbacks in
Municipal Service Districts from the current setbaclcs of 50' from Residential and 35' from other properties
to correspond with the Commercial Districts setbacks of 50' from Street Right of Way and 20' from lot lines.
Later during the regular meeting, Commissioners voted approving the change to Municipal Service Districts
setbacks.
i In an effort to balance the State Budget reimbursements that are normally given to local governments are
being withheld. Pine Knoll Shores will lose about $55,000 in reimbursements. In addition, a loss of income
from interest bearing accounts will probably total another $40,000 making next year's budgeting more
difficult. The Board appointed Betty Carr, Town Administrator to the position of Budget Officer.
i The Board passed an ordinance to Prohibit Beach Bulldozing in concurrence with the beach renourishment.
i The Board passed amendments to the Fire Department By-Laws so that membership will not be restricted
to Pine Knoll Shores residents.
