The Gaunts bought their property about 15 years ago and have been planning this move for a long time. Hugh had come to North Carolina after a business trip and fell in love with the area. They purchased a house in Morehead City for rental purposes and thought they might live in that house while building their new one. However, they sold that house and spent some time in hotels instead. Barbara was born in San Francisco and Hugh in Nebraska. He moved to California as a child and they both grew up in California, were high school sweethearts and married during their sophomore year in college. They will be celebrating their 45^*^ wedding anniversary this year. They moved to New Jersey, where Barbara was ^ homemaker and Hugh has worked the past 37 years in New York City. They also had an apartment in New York. Hugh's offices were at 37“^ and Madison Avenue where he worked in the fashion industry, manufacturing and marketing children's outerwear and did a great deal of traveling. The Gaunts have three children a son Greg and his wife Pat who live in New Jersey with their four year old daughter Haley. Barbara and Hugh's daughter Tammy and her husband Richard, a dentist, live in Florida with Brandon, their 9 year old son. The youngest daughter Terri and her husband Rob will be moving closer, Fayetteville, with their dogs, cats and a horse. Terri rides and shows her Arabian.
