CALENDAR FOR DECEMBER
Using the Online Public Access Catalog, patrons can now search for, request,
and renew materials (if not overdue). The OPAC can be accessed from home
via the Internet (http://www.cpclib.org).
What’s New: Wonderful things are happening in the children’s area at the library.
Our reference area has expanded to include “Guiness Book of World Records
2003”, “National Goegraphic Beginner’s World Atlas” and “National Geographic
World Atlas for Young Explorers”. We have also added the “World Beliefs and
Cultures” Series by Sue Penney. Titles in the series are “Buddhism”,
“Christianity”, “Hinduism”, “Islam”, “Judaism”and “Sikhism”. The 2002 Award
books have also been added to the collection. Caldecott winner “The Three
Pigs” by D. Weisner, and Newberry winner “A Single Shard” by L. Park.
Featured Artists for December: Featured in the library’s Art Gallery during
December is a beautiful collection of watercolors, aciylic paintings and
sculptures by the multi-talented Morehead City artist and sculptor Fred Hamilton.
In the Showcase Down East jewelry designer and fabricator Wilhelmina (Willi
Foster) displays gemstone and minerals creations, select pieces of pottery and
other treasurers.
Reception for Artists: The Friends of the Library will host a reception for these
outstanding artists on Friday, December 13th, from 3 to 4 pm. These receptions
are open to the public. It is an excellent opportunity to enjoy the works of these
talented local artists. Light refreshments will be served. Please join us.
Activities for Children: Preschool Storytimes will be held each Monday at 10:30
a.m. This program is conducted by Miss Ernestine.
Special Closings: The library will be closed on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,
December 24th - December 26th for the Christmas Holiday. We will close on
