Patty and Charley Swets were given a
wedding anniversary blessing by Father
Bill Long after mass recently. Afterwards
they celebrated their Fiftieth Wedding An
niversary with friends at Nicola’s restau
rant. Recently Patty and Charley vaca
tioned at Las Vegas and Grand Canyon
National Park with their son, Richard, and
his wife. Marge, from New York and their
daughter, Sharon, who lives in New
Zealand. Charley, did you bring back
some of the casino’s money?
Mr. & Mrs. William and Elizabeth
(Bill & Betty) Filan celebrated their 40th
wedding anniversary on September 18th
at a surprise party given in their honor at
the Royal Pavilion Resort in Pine Knoll
Shores. Bill & Betty were married in
Newark, NJ on September 26,1964. Their
three daughters, Kathy, Sue, and Joanne
joined good friends and family in plan
ning the event, with relatives traveling
from around the East Coast to attend. New
Jersey natives. Bill and Betty permanently
relocated to Pine Knoll Shores in 1995
after Bill retired from the East Orange
(NJ) Fire Department and Betty retired
from the Prudential Insurance Co. in
Newark, NJ.
Dorothea and John Riso’s son Brian,
a retired Major in the Marine Corps, mar
ried his sweetheart, Kerri Marine in the
Chapel at Cherry Point. Brian, a gradu
ate of the Naval Academy at Annapolis,
was stationed at Cherry Point as a CH-
46 Helicopter pilot. Since retirement
Brian has been employed as a Foreign
Military Sales Case Manager at Cherry
Point.
Doe and Tom Martynowski of Ash
Court marked their Fiftieth Wedding An
niversary August 14 at a party hosted by
Frank and Trish Wallace at their home.
Family and friends in attendance included
the Martynowski’s daughter, Mrs. Ed-
WcU'd (Lorraine) Plantone and grandchil
dren Kate Marie and Paul Plantone. The
Martynowski’s also have a son, Tom Jr.,
whose work prevented him from attend
ing with his wife, Carolyn, and their son.
Brock. Tom and Doe, the former Dolores
Florence Sorrentino, were married on
August 14,1954, in St. Hedwig’s church
in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Marilyn and Andy Smetana’s daugh
ter and son-in-law, Tracey and Jeff
Clements, recently adopted fraternal twin
boys from Lithuania. The three and a half

Ron and Dot Manion and Bill and Betty Filan also celebrated
their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
Long-time friends Norm and Grace Meyers gave
a lovely party to celebrate the fiftieth wedding
anniversary of Bill and Barbara Milhaven
