Page 4 The Shoreline February 2005 New Bern Preservation Foundation Schedules Antiques Show and Sale The New Bern Preservation Foun dation announces it’s prestigious 17"' annual Antiques Show and Sale, February 11 to 13, 2005. This year’s expanded show, the largest in NC east of 1-95, will be held at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center and will exceed even last year’s record-breaking show. Many of your favorite vendors will be return ing and will be joined by several exciting new vendors featuring IS* to early 20* century furniture, decorative accessories, jewelry, lin ens, silver, books, and more. The Show will offer many informa tional events and opportunities for attendees to gather facts about their own antiques and collectables from local experts at the WCTI Channel 12 Verbal Appraisals from 11 to 3 on Saturday and Sunday. Important lectures by respected experts in their particular fields are also scheduled. There will be a display of Heisey Glass by the North Carolina Heisey Study Club and a cross-section of North Caro lina pottery. Free delivery within a 25-mile ra dius of large items purchased at the show is a much-appreciated service. There will be a raffle with significant prizes and you do not have to be present to win. Greg Barton of Lancaster, SC will do glass and crystal repair at his usual fee and costume jewelry will be repaired by Step in Time for a fee. Tickets are $5.00 and are good for all three days as well as a chance on the Show Shopping Sprees. Antiques Show ticket hold ers will also receive discounted admission to Tryon Palace Historic Sites and Gardens on Saturday and Sunday as well as a discount on purchases in the Museum and Garden Shops on those days. Proceeds from the show benefit the preservation of historic homes and landmark buildings by the New Bern Preservation Foun dation that is dedicated to “Progress through Preservation”. Hospice Seeking New Volunteers, Plans Spring Training Session Submitted by Margaret Smith Hospice volunteers are special people and Hospice needs more of those special people! There is a lot to be gained by being a Hospice volunteer: • Satisfaction from making a differ ence in people’s lives • Greater self knowledge from in sights gained from relationships with pa tients and their families and from training provided by Hospice Volunteers provide a link to the Hospice staff and they are an important source of information for the Hos pice team. Volunteers serve in many ways: • Listen to concerns • Keep the patient company • Be a support person • Do chores around the house • Run errands • Volunteers also help behind the scene with clerical work and fund raising. If being a Hospice volunteer sounds interesting to you, our next training session is scheduled for February 22,23, and 24. Please come join us! Seek Chairman Bob Marshall and Paul Pylko, parks directors for Pine Knoll Associaction are looking for a chairman for Ocean Park. They have a list of volunteers from the previous year and a pretty good routine in place for keeping the “sittum”, or the “deck on the dunes”, looking good. Antiques and Collectibles Carteret County Antiques and Col lectibles Club will meet at Clawson’s Restaurant in Beaufort, at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 16. The speaker will be Billy Dervise, owner of Cinna mon Creek Antiques and Trading Co.
