Thirty-nine delegates were elected during the County Convention. All Democrats are welcome to attend, but only these thirty-nine can vote. Pine Knoll Association News Submitted by Marge Green Welcome Two New Chefs at “Tradewinds” Submitted by Sigrid Schneider Ray Tillery, general manager of the Royal Pavillion Resort has announced that his new executive chef will be Scott McClelland and new sous chef Luke Maquire. After culinary institute training 20 years ago, Scott started work in Pittsburgh. He has spent the last eight years as the owner of Chefs 505 in Greenville, North Carolina. Luke has been with Scott in Greenville but is glad to be back home as his family is in Newport. He will be involved with sauces, desserts and generally help Scott with preparation. They are going to keep some favorites such as German night but will gradually introduce some other fare. Scott envisions having lighter entrees for lighter appetites, which he aptly named “Lean Cuisine.” Scott and Luke will also feature some light desserts for people who might want just a little sweet after a good meal. When you go there, do get to know them. Mmmm - can’t wait to have some sorbet. The regular meeting of the Pine Knoll Association was held April 11 at Town Hall. It is important that you receive the letter mailed April 15, which includes your bill for your annual dues and special assessment, your green decals for your car, and a notice for a special meeting at Town Hall at 7 p.m.. May 20. This meeting is an informational one on the proposed changes to the covenants. If you have not received the letter, please call Paulette Murphy during office hours. The number is 240-1717. Your association dues of $80 per property aredue on June 1 with a late fee of $25 assessed after that date. There will be another mailing on April 30. This mailing is being done so there will be no confusion about your bill and when it is due. It will contain the notice of the Annual Meeting, proposed budget, proposed changes in the covenants, ballot/proxy for new directors along with their biographies. The Annual Meeting will be held at Bogue Banks Country Club at 7:00p.m. on June 24. A new kayak rack has been installed at Brock Basin. If you have not been down there recently, you will notice that there is now a floating dock against the bulkhead which should facilitate launching of kayaks and canoes. Our volunteers, headed by Bob Marshall, Paul Pylko and Bill Stanley, deserve a big thank you for their construction of the kayak/canoe racks plus all their work done to maintain our parks for everyone’s enjoyment. Please do not forget that the Town has added additional yard waste pickup dates. There will be one on April 28as well as May 12 and 26. Please make sure that your grass clippings from the mower do not go into the canal. It is not only unsightly, but interferes with the normal health of the canals. We also have had a problem with some boat owners who fail to understand that when the water is shut off for the season it is to remain off unless the Harbor Master is consulted. Indiscriminate use has caused some serious over usages of water plus broken pipes. The next regular meeting will be held at Town Hall at 9:30 a.m. on May 9. The meetings are open to all members.
