N Brian Kramer
E on events
R in town.
Here are some of the things going on
at town hall.
Effects of the economic situation -
We are experiencing the same revenue
stresses that towns throughout the
state are presently facing. Our sales tax
revenue is down considerably from the
levels we planned for last spring. At
present I am hopeful that we will be
able to deal with this without touching
our reserves. We've already taken some
cost-saving measures and will keep a
close eye on it. Call or come see me if
you want to see any numbers. I am at
247-4353, ext 16.
Audit of the water system- We
have contracted with Cavanaugh and
Associates, an outfit out of Wilmington,
to examine our operations and to take
a look at system infrastructure. When
this is complete we will have a mid
and long-term maintenance plan, and a
capitol improvement plan for the town
water system.
Budget Planning for Fiscal Year2009-
2010 (July 2009 to June 2010) - We have
started discussions at the departmental
level for next year. The second Board
of Commissioners meeting for March,
April, and May will all be focused on
the budget. The dates for these meetings
are March 26, April 23, and May 28. All
of the meetings are at 10 a.m. and are
at Town Hall.
Reminder: Every-other-month water
billing soon to begin- We are going to
change our water billing procedures by
going to an every-other-month format.
Here are some timelines
• March 2009 will be your last monthly
bill.
• There will be no bill mailed out in
April 2009.
• In May 2009 you will receive your
first bi-monthly bill.
• You will be billed every other month
thereafter (July '09, Sept '09, Nov '09,
etc.).
For answers to your water billing
questions, please call Linda Brickhouse
at 247-4353 ext. 10.
Next dinner with the Town Manager-
Our next quarterly dinner will be at
5:30 p.m. on Wed, April 15, at the
Clamdigger. I'll be ready to discuss
anything you want to talk about. Note-
I will have the July event on Saturday
July18,2009. I want to especially invite
second home owners and weekenders
to this. More to follow.
T own Manager e-mail list- If you want
to be on my e-mail distribution list for
periodic PKS messages, contact me at

Farewell to Jake Rife- Jake, a PKS
resident, is hanging up his rake
and stepping down from his part-
time position in our Public Service
Department. A team is only as good as
its players, and Jake is a good one. He
is one of the most patriotic men I have
met and is an asset to the staff. Jake isn't
going anywhere, so it isn't goodbye, just
see you around. Thanks Jake.
