Patty renewed old acquaintances with friends, and during her visit performed with the Senior Cheerleaders of Pine Knoll Shores at the recently held Relay For Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society. She also performed with the cheerleader group at the Senior Games where they were awarded a gold medal. Patty took several days to visit her friends Jan and Pat Webb in Sarasota, Florida. All in all, it was a great visit renewing old friendships from her many years as a Pine Knoll Shores resident. Haley is pictured on the right. Haley Magel, 11, granddaughter of Ken and Edy Rene Magel, recently performed dance routines on stage in Epcot at Disney World in Kissimmee, Florida. This program was presented as part of the Disney Performing Arts during Disney's Magical Music Days. After her four day dance recital at Epcot, Haley then performed on the Norwegian cruise liner Monarch of the Sea. Under the direction of Pricilla Hoffman Gill, she is a member of the Bedazzled Dance Studio in York, Permsylvania, where she lives with parents Keith and Rebecca Magel and brother Aaron. Congratulations are in order. The original poster art for the 23'‘* Annual Seafood Festival was painted by PKS resident Jim Storholt. The poster that serves as a symbol of this year's festival features a clam bake and has a seascape background. This is Jim's second painting to be selected to represent the festival. He also did the poster for the 2005 event. Marion Goetzinger and two daughters in Paris Marion Goetzinger, owner of the Pine Knoll Shores Realty with husband Ted, recently returned from a trip to Paris, France, accompanied by daughters Amy Hahn and Meredith Westbrook. This trip was part of a Christmas present that hubby Ted gave the family. During the ten-day odyssey, they stayed in a hotel that Ted and Marion had stayed in on previous excursions to France. Their hotel was located in the vicinity of The Louvre, Eiffel Tower, and other fascinating sights. During their visit the group attended April Mass at the Notre Dame Cathedral. We are told that the Parisians were very welcoming and friendly, disputing the notion that the French are unfriendly to American tourists. A group of friends gathered last month to help Pat and Bob Ruggiero celebrate their wedding anniversary number 55. Mayor Joan Lamson read and presented a proclamation for National Safe Boating Week at the May 12 Board of Commissioners meeting to Comander JB Bagby, Fort Macon Sail and Power Squadron,. Painted Bunting (left) Bob Curry, chairman of the Community Appearance Commission, recently spotted this magnificently plumed bird at his feeder. Known to occasionally frequent the Roosevelt Forest, the Painted Buntings show up during mid-April thru mid-August and prefer open feeders and love white millet seed.
