That's just what avid cyclist, Paul Rudershausen, a research assistai\t at CMAST, is goiiig to do this summer. Paul has dreamed of taking a bike tour across America for years, but it wasn't until last year when he was biking across Canada that he came up with the idea to do it to benefit the Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter(OWLS). He said of his trip across Canada that people kept asking him if he was doing it for a cause, which got him thinking, "Why not?" To paraphrase an oft cited saying, the recent reports about the demise of "The Club" have been greatly exaggerated. Paul came up with the www. pedal4wildlife.org website that he and Paula Gillikin, of the Beaufort Community Cat Project, will maintain throughout his trip to keep everyone updated on where he is, what he's doing and how things are going. His trip is scheduled to kick-off on August 1®' in Coos Bay, Oregon. He plans to visit many breathtaking places like Crater Lake National Park, the Rocky Prospects Looking Up By Charlie McBriarty Moimtains, the northern Ozarks, and the Appalachian range. He plans to take a three-day break from pedaling to explore the canyons of the Yampa River in Colorado, and will complete his adventure in Pine Knoll Shores where OWLS plans to honor him at a reception on September 3.
