Some noteworthy cases during July were three separate incidents of nudity that were observed but not reported immediately; therefore, no arrests were made. There was a person with dementia missing from the beach who was located five hours later walking along NC 58 after an intensive search. Bulk items that will be collected include the following; furniture, beach and patio chairs and tables, bedding and mattresses, grills (gas bottles excluded), small amounts of home repair/project materials, doors, windows, pieces of lumber, trim, vinyl, and similar materials. Such items, with the exception of doors, may not exceed four feet in length. White goods (appliances and hot water heaters) are included in the bulk items pick up; however, you must notify waste industries directly (223- 4176) if you have white goods to be collected. White goods are collected with a specialized truck separate from other discarded items. Materials that will not be taken include household solid waste, household recyclables, paints, stains, solvents, oil, gasoline or liquids of any kind. pesticides, fertilizers, batteries, or other hazardous material. All bulk items must be at the roadside before 7:00 a.m. on September 24, and not sooner than Tuesday, September 22.
