The fact is the signs are working, but the problem is that cars park just beyond these signs. Free Dog Seminar- A dog obedience seminar will be offered on Saturday, October 3 at 11 a.m. at the Paradise Acres kennel on Sam Gamer Road in Newport. Those that are received will be carried in the October edition of the paper. If you wish to leam more about the candidates' views, watch for the date of the League of Women Voters' "Candidate Fomm." These sessions typically begin with introductions of each of the candidates and allow time for each to make an opening statement. The balance of time is then spent with the candidates' responding to audience questions and may also allow a closing statement from each candidate present. Times are Changing - According to a State Library of North Carolina news release, Cary grew nearly 7% last year and is the third-fastest growing commvmity in North America with a population of 100,000. Ranked eighth was Raleigh with a population increase of nearly 4%. A listing of the top ten fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States finds Raleigh ranked number one and Charlotte number seven. In releasing this information. State Librarian Mary Boone said: "In a state that is changing at such a rapid pace, historic census data is one way to gain insight into just how dramatic these changes are and how they might impact North Carolina's future." New Boater Safety Law - Governor Bev Purdue recently signed a measure from the General Assembly session that will require persons under age 26 to complete a boater safety education course prior to operating a boat in state waters. The law becomes effective on May 1, 2010.
