E on events
R in town.
Here are some of things going on at
Town Hall.
1.PKSPedestrianPlan (akasidewalks).
A draft of the plan has been prepared
and was discussed at an Open House
on November 17. The draft will be on
our website by the time this edition of
The Shoreline hits the deck. There will
be a Public Hearing on the plan at some
point early in the New Year, prior to
the Board of Commissioners voting on
adoption.
2. Public beach access and associated
parking. As of this writing, we continue
to seek a resolution to parking for
planned accesses on the eastern end of
town. We intend to attempt to wrap
this up in the next few months. My
objective is to have the accesses and
associated parking built for the 2010
summer season.
3. The December Board Meeting.
Following the PKS tradition for election
years, the December Board meeting
will see the transition of the Board of
Commissioners and the Mayor. The
date is December 8 and the meeting will
start at 10:00.

have brought with you, and the water in
Lake Powell was the bluest that I've ever
seen as was the sky, but the night sky
looking up through the canyons walls
was unbelievable. I never realized that
there were that many stars in the sky.
From Utah, we went south through
Arizona with stays in Sedona, Phoenix
and Tombstone, with the highlight being
the town of Tombstone. Tombstone's a
small town that hasn't changed a whole
lot since the 1880's. You still get the
feeling that you are walking through
an old western town while strolling
the main street. Cars aren't allowed,
but stagecoaches and wagons are, and
many of the people you see in town are
in costume. Waling the town, you don't
need to use much imagination to feel as
though you are walking along with the
Earps, Doc Holiday, Bat Masterson and
the Clantons.
Leaving Tombstone, we turned east
and started our journey backhome. This
took us to Las Cruces and Carlsbad in
southern New Mexico, where we toured
the caverns, followed the footsteps
of Billy the Kid, and learned about
space aliens in Roswell. Then on to San
Antonio, where we explored the River
Walk, the Alamo and a number of old
missions. We finished the trip staying a
few days in the Houston/Galveston area,
and since we had a few dollars left over,
we stopped at the casinos in Biloxi.
We spent six weeks on the road and
saw a lot, and we could spend another six
weeks on the same trip and still not see
it all. We hope to do just that someday,
but next spring we're planning to go to
Montana and Wyoming via St. Louis
and Dodge City, so we can follow the
footsteps of Frank and Jesse James, Lewis
and Clark and George Custer. Maybe
we'll even follow the Oregon Trail all
the way to the Pacific Coast.
