Page 2 The Shoreline June 2010 K R A M E R’ S O A monthly Report R by Town Manager N Brian Kramer E on events R in town. Happy June everyone. Here are a few of the things going on at town hall. Landscaping in the Town Right-of-Way, Part II. This is a follow-up to my message in the April edition of The Shoreline. The Town continues to discuss enforcement options regarding the ordinance preventing landscaping within six feet of the asphalt on public roads. Please keep timed, as it has the potential to affect himdreds of homes in Pine Knoll Shores. It will be discussed at the monthly Board of Commissioners' meeting on Tuesday, June 8, at 6 p.m. Public Hearing on the 2010-2011PKS budget. At the June 8 board meeting mentioned above, there will be a public hearing on the upcoming year's budget. The budget will be publicly displayed at town hall and the library for ten days prior to the hearing. It will also be on the town's Web site. I will e-mail the budget in PDF format to any interested citizen. My e-mail is manager@townofpks.com. No parking on Dogwood Circle Right of Way. After constructing our first public beach access on a residential street. Pine Knoll Shores has adopted an ordinance preventing parking on the right of way in Dogwood Circle. This will go into effect when our signs are delivered. 3rd Annual Pine Knoll Shores' Kayak for the Warriors. By the time you are reading this, we will be only days away from our best-ever kayak race (and this year's added event: a bike ride through town) to benefit wounded servicemen and women. The big day is June 12. Please see all the details at www. kayakforthewarriors.org. If you are not interested in biking or kayaking, you may still contribute by coming to Gamer Park on Saturday, June 12, at 10 a.m. and have the opportunity to help support our wounded heroes in a variety of ways. The chow, by the way, is awesome. No Parking on Highway 58 (Salter Path Road) in PKS. After receiving the okay from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Pine Knoll Shores has adopted an ordinance preventing parking on Salter Path Road. This was done largely to counter the parking issues related to public beach accesses. We will have procedures in place to allow for exceptions for three circumstances: • Salter Path residents who host an occasional event that would require guests to park on the road. • Service providers (mainly landscapers). • Building contractors. This will go into effect when our signs are delivered. Diimer with the Mayor. Our next dinner with Mayor Ken Jones will be on Saturday, July 17, at 5:30 p.m. This will be our second such event held on a Saturday evening in the summer. The intent is to reach out to our weekenders/second homeowners who are not always available the rest of the year. The location is TBD—stand-by on that. Town Manager's e-mail. I maintain an e-mail list, which I use to send out town news occasionally. I also enjoy using this list to annoy UNC fans by praising the achievements of the 2010 National Champion Duke University Blue Devils. If you are not on my e-mail list and would like to be added, please send me a message at manager@townofpks.com.
