Ethnic performers will share music from their home lands and the return of Simon Spalding’s Global Village Garage Band will add to the festivities. Kraftyer’s Klatch, part of the Craven County Extension and Community Associa tion, on March 16, will present Keep It Simple Girl, a prograrn on how to de-clutter you home. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Tuppence, New Bern’s dynamic duo of traditional music presents an eve ning of Irish music at Trent River Coffee Company on Thursday March 17. The program will include traditional and contemporary Irish ballads, fiddle tunes, sea chanteys and more. Tuppence consists of Sara and Simon Spalding playing fiddle, guitar, octar, mandolin, bodhram (Irish drum) and other instru ments. Producers of the Carohnian Shakespeare Festival (CSF) announced their new partnership with the Tryon Palace for the presentation of this summer’s festival. Tyron Palace will host the CSF production of Othello and other festival events at the state-of-the-art Cullman Performance Hall at the North Carolina His tory Center, Tyron Palace’s new complex of gardens and buildings. Othello will be performed from August 4 to 22. Local auditions will be held on March 18 and 19. Ihe Sudan Shrine Center in New Bern located at the corner of Broad and East Front Street will be the site of a huge book sale on Friday March 25, Saturday March 26 and Sunday March 27. Ihe hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. This sale is sponsored by the Friends of the New Bern- Craven County Library. Eastern North Carolina Pet Expo. The first ever Pet Expo will be held on Saturday April 16 at New Bern’s Riverfront Convention Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pet education classes, pet idol contest and pet fashion show will take place through the day.
