Ocean Park Beach Sand Protection As part of our town-wide beach sand and vegetation planting initiative, a group of dedicated Pine Knoll Associa tion (PKA) volunteers descended on Ocean Park beach, hole diggers in hand, to install beach fence before having sand grasses planted in the area. Much camaraderie and considerable humorous quips plus many hands on board made the job easier There were, in fact, an impressive number of men doing this job: Tom Fernandez, Bob McElroy, Walt Zaenker, Bob Murphy, Russ Pagels, Larry La Brie, Bill Foy, Richard Seale, Clark Edwards, Paul Py- Iko, George Greene, Dick Belanger and Bill Steenland. PKA hopes this effort will set an example and inspire other oceanfront property owners to undertake this work. m St. Francis by the Sea Art Gallery During May, the colorful oil paint ings of Pat Warnke will be on display at St. Francis by the Sea Episcopal Church in Salter Path. Pat has enjoyed draw ing and painting for as long as she can remember, and since moving to Pine Knoll Shores in 2004, loves to capture on canvas active people surfing and fishing. She also paints peaceful land- and seascapes and tries, she says, “to memorialize some of the disappearing icons of the coast.” There will be an opening reception for her exhibit on Friday May 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. All are welcome free of charge. The St. Francis gallery, at 920 Salter Path Road, is also open Monday- Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Sundays before and after the 10 a.m. service. (Regularly on the first Friday of the month, St. Francis by the Sea cel ebrates a new art show with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m.) ■inm- ft ■ ! ’ I rH 5CHJTffiRn CoteiBemks BUILDI sss-yas’9044 JoeFurtner IX. 0SBSSt • New Construction • Home & Condo Remodeling • Additions • Decl(S & Porches • Painting, Tile & Custom Carpentry Pine Knoll Shores Resident Since 1985 Skilled NC Licensed General Contractor On Your Job From Start To Finish 252-725-9244 sobxbuilders@hotmail. com 2011 HONDA 2011 Honda Accord LX Premium Ingenuity, Inside & Out 23 mpg city, 34 mpg highway* ALL-NEW 2011 Odj'ssey Touring Elite Journey to lands far away. 19 mpg city, 28 mpg highway* 2011 Pilot 4WD Touring Get ready for the road. 16 mpg city, 22 mpg highway* 2011CR-V4WDEX-L Start craving new destinations. 21 mpg city, 27 mpg highway* 2011 Accord Crosstour 4WD EX-L Enjoy stylish utility. 18 mpg city, 26 mpg highway* 2011 Insigiit Hybrid EX IVIake the hybrid for everyone yours. 40 mpg city, 43 mpg highway* 2011 Civic Sedan EX-L Hug every corner. 25 mpg city, 36 mpg highway* 2011 Fit Sport Go.
