Penguin Plunge By Dan Law February 2012 Until this year, I had never paid much attention to the organized New Year's Day tradition of taking a swim or plunge into the ocean. Well, this year my wife, Teresa, and several of our close friends announced they were going to take the plunge, so I decided, since this year's proceeds would be donated to our new local Hospice House project, I would attend to report and photograph the event. The Penguin Plunge event required either preregistration online or registration in person on the morning of New Year's Day. The registration form stated there was a $5 minimum donation to participate, and there were t-shirts available with a logo of the event for donations of $20 or more. We all decided to wait until the morning of the plunge to register, and I was very sur prised to see all of the families who came to register at the Crab's Claw Restaurant that morning. The names appear on the wall in chronological order based on the date of their death. One name on the wall, that of PFC Dan Bullock, has been found to be quite unique and controversial as some have stated that his name is on the wall be cause he lied. It's true, PFC Bullock did lie, but it's far from the truth to declare that fact as the reason his name is on the wall. Dan Bullock was born in Goldsboro, and when he was 11, his mother died, so he moved to New York to live with The Pine Knotl Shores Radio Station broadcasts 24 hours a day with weather and emergency info.
