breast cancer. Either you
have had your own personal
journey or have traveled
with your mother, sister or
another woman you love as
she faced this battle. In the
face of the ongoing threat of
breast cancer, a sisterhood
of concern and vigilance has
grown.
In conjunction with the
annual conference of Rotary
District 7730, encompass
ing much of eastern North
Carolina, the first-ever Pink Luncheon fundraiser was held on October 25 at the
Dunes Club. Supported by Rotary District 7730 Governor Andy Chused and hosted
by Rhonda Chused and Rhonda Scibal, the luncheon was held in recognition of
Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the need for ongoing support of those dealing

Mayors Receive
National Recognition
Earlier this year. Pine Knoll Shores Mayor Ken Jones and Morehead City Mayor
Jerry Jones joined with the National Safe Boating Council to designate the week
before Memorial Day as National Safe Boating Week in our community. To further
emphasize the importance of educating the public about boating safety, the U.S.
Power Squadrons conducted extra classes, set up booths for vessel safety checks,
conducted seminars and held other events, starting a year-long effort to promote
safe boating in and around the waters of the Crystal Coast.
The mayors were recognized recently for their support of National Safe Boating
Week by the U.S. Power Squadrons national magazine. The Ensign. On November
14, U.S. Power Squadrons District 27 Commander Robert Howd and District 27
