The Blue Star Memorial Pro gram began at the close of WWII when the Garden Club of New Jersey dedicat ed a memorial to honor veterans of the war. The program has been expanded to include all men and women who have served, are serving or will serve in the Armed Forces of the United States. Markers can be found on highways, byways and in civic locations throughout the country. The marker shown here is located in Emerald Isle and is similar to the marker to be dedicated in Pine Knoll Shores in November. Please arrive at town hall no later than 10 a.m. to take a shuttle to the dedication site. Also, to facilitate traffic flow, please use Arborvitae Drive to reach town hall.
