InQuicker Online Check-In Non-emergent EMERGENCY patients can now wait at HOME rather than in the ED waiting area. InQuicker Online Check-In allows non-emergent patients to sign in through our website and wait at home rather than come straight to the Emergency Department. The new service can be found at: www.CarteretHealth.org and www.CarteretER.org. Ca .com This is one way we have listened to our patients and are adding services to improve their quality care. Carteret Compassion runs deep CMrterethealth.org • (252) 499-6000 Four Florida Manatees Visit PKS Canals By Richard Seale I was out of town, but on Friday, October 28, Linda arid several other Pine Knoll Shores residents got to see and take very good photographs of manatees when they were at Hall Haven in shallow water. Related to elephants, the manatee is a true aquatic mammal, meaning it lives 1009 of its life in the water like whales and dolphins. Manatees are herbivores, with only molar teeth, and when these teeth wear out, they grow replacement teeth. Their lips and mouth have evolved into grazing structures able to harvest underwater plants. They mate, give birth and nurse their calves (which are 3-4 feet in length and weigh 60 to 70 pounds at birth) under water. Manatees normally stay in fresh or salt waters with temperatures that are above 68 degrees Fahrenheit. It is not unusual for them to travel to North Carolina waters during summer months, and they have been known to migrate as far north as Capei Cod. They do need to return to warmer waters to survive over the winter months. Manatees in Hall Haven marina created lots of excitement for those who were fortunate enough to see them.—Photo by Linda Seale QUAUIY CARE FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING COMPANION « IN’HOME AIDES UP TO 24 HOURS/DAY • WELLNESS • LIGHT HOUSEKEEPING • SHOPPING • MEAL PREP • TRANSPORTATION • Hospice Collaboration Companion & Q^ome Care COMPASSION, RESPECT, HOME (252) 764-9574 • www.companionandhomecare.com 208 Bogue Inlet Dr, Suite E, Emerald Isle, NC 28594 The Shoreline I December 2016
