Carteret Compassion runs deep carterethealth.org • (252) 499-6000 New PKA Administrator Rachel Hardesty—P/?ofo byAmry Cox PKA News ByAmry Cox New PKA administrator and box address Effective January 1,2017, Rachel Hardesty will come aboard as Pine Knoll Associations new administrator. She and her husband, John, have been a part of the community and area since 1989, and their children went to elementary and high schools in Morehead City. Rachel grew up in Beaufort and is related to the Davis and Lewis families, which are well-recognized local families. In fact, family lore tells of Rachels grandmother working with the Roosevelts years ago when they owned property and maintained a residence here. The Roosevelts would send a driver to pick up Rachel’s grandmother when they came down and were in residence on the island. Island life has been an important influence on the whole Hardesty family They all enjoy activities on and around the water and being outdoors. The grown Hardesty sons still surf and work on the water, either in this area or on the Gulf. Rachel and John are enjoying their first grandchild and their roles as grandparents. Rachel finds Pine Knoll Shores to be a special place and loves living here. For 27 years the Hardestys have felt this is a real community where people know each other and are very friendly. Like most of us, they may not know everybody’s name, but recognize people as they walk their dog, bicycle around or drive by Both Rachel and John have worked together to create painted furniture and beachy decor—so they have an innovative and creative side, too. Rachel has been doing similar duties and responsibilities in previous work experiences and brings many skills to our HOA. She went to Barton College in Wilson, and has worked with another local HOA, plus has decades of work experiences to develop a broad skill set in accounts receivables, accounts payable, customer service, problem solving and customer follow-up and follow-through. She is excited about the challenges of working with our HOA—and having possibly the best commute of her life so far. Please note that the new location of the PKA box is 104 Pecan Court. A special thank you and recognition of dedicated service is extended to Cindy Schersching as our previous PKA administrator. Cindy joins an impressive group of folks such as Kathy Kimmel, Paulette Murphy, Robin Barnes and a host of others who have been an active part and contributed to the legacy of Pine Knoll Association.
