BLASTS From the Draper Office Carrie Hill and Evelyn Lewis Well, after feasting on all that tur key, cranberry sauce, dressing, and the fixings, plus pumpkin pie (and who had all that?), guess we can settle down for another siege, or at least until the Christmas holiday. We’uns surely do hope that you’uns had a nice Thanks giving. Agnes Foster and Gladys Barber took off last Wednesday afternoon and went to the fair city shopping. Here’s hop ing that they bought my Christmas present! How about the rest of you girls? Everlena Cannaday and Selma Stone visited Camp Lejeune over the .Thanks giving holidays. Everlena went to visit her husband and Selma said she vis ited her sister. How about that, Selma? Virginia “Speedy” Giles spent the week-end in Burlington last week, again! While there she lost her big pocketbook. Monday morning, after re turning, she lost her small change purse (she found that), all due to a serious love affair. We hear wedding bells, don’t we, “Speedy”? Inform us, gal, inform us! Lots of people have stopped me on the streets and asked me to send a copy of the Mill Whistle to their boy in service. I’d love to send it to every single boy and girl, but I can’t—but it your son or daughter is in service and does not receive his or her copy, give us their address and we’ll be glad to pass it on to Mr. Newman. I’m sure he’ll see they get it. The “Chin Up Girls” met with Ever lena Cannady on Thursday evening, with Selma Stone as joint hostess. Avis was his guest last night and they feasted upon delicious rabbit (Grissom had talked down), gravy, potato salad, etc. He did let Katherine bake the biscuits— it was some grand meal Avis tells us. The Bedspread Finishing is very hap py to have Kate Ross back after being out for 2 weeks with a broken rib re ceived in an automobile accident. We are very happy for Ruth and Jack Alley.
