Bedspread Mill

Hello, Folks, and especially the serv
ice men. Here we are again from the
Bedspread Mill. We hope to have some
news for you in the coming issues of
the Mill Whistle.
The Grey Room has added some
new employees and also the Weave
Room. Glad to have you with us. From
the Grey Room, Miss Alice MacTiller,
Mrs. Sunshine Caudle, Mrs. Nellie Con
nor and Bill Brame. From the Weav
ing Room, Ruby Hundley, Helen Gilley,
Madeline Boulding, Lena Corum and
Melvin Robbins. We are very sorry
Alice MacTiller is out sick at the pres
ent. Hope she will be back with us
soon.
Elizabeth Purgerson and Norma Evans
are out sick. Hope they will soon be
well again.
Miss Nellie London spent the week
end in Leaksville at the home of Mrs.
Joe Giles.
Mrs. Clarice Fields and Mrs. Cathe
rine Brame were shoppers in Danville
Saturday.
Clyde J. Buckner, Jr., coxswain, re
cently spent his 15-day furlough with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Buck
ner, of Leaksville. This is his first trip
home in the past 10 months, as he has
served in the Mediterranean theatre of
war during his absence.
Mary Evelyn Duggins, the former
Mary Evelyn Tiller, has resigned her
position with Marshall Field & Co., and
is now living with her husband who is
stationed at Pope Field, Fort Bragg.
Mrs. Anne Murphy has taken Mary
Evelyn Duggins’ place as style sched
uler for the Weave Room.
Everyone was glad to see Aviation
Cadet Morelle Conner last Monday when
he visited the mill. He spent a 11-day
furlough with his wife and two daugh
ters, Gayle and Linda, of Leaksville.
A/C Conner returned to San Antonio,
Texas, where he has just finished his
pre-flight training.
Pete Troxler, S/2-c, and Linuel Trox-
ler, private first class, are sons of Mr.
and Mrs. Johnnie Troxler. Linuel is
now in New Guinea and Pete is sta
tioned somewhere in California.
Private Joseph Hodges has just re
ceived a medical discharge. He is now
back home with his family in Leaks
ville.
(Dee) James Murphy has just re
ceived a medical discharge from the
Navy and is now at home with his wife
in Winston-Salem, N. C.
Private First Class James Woods came
in home the 8th of December from
Staunton, Va., to be with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Woods, on a 21-
day furlough.
Mrs. Sunshine Caudle has received
word from her husband that he has
landed safely in England.
