Vernon has been in service for quite awhile and he is expected home on leave before long. And we hope it is real soon. Carl II. Hall, has just returned to his base in California after spending a ten day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hall, of Draper. Carl, we enjoyed and appreciated your letter. Shown in the staff photograph is Private First Class Joseph E. Holliman, Draper, North Carolina, now serving with a Service Unit of the XII Air Force Service Command in Italy. He is shown as he prepares a hot meal on an Army range in a field kitchen. Individuality and ingenuity count most in this field and the soldier stands high in both characteristics. He has had over sixteen months overseas service and is author ized to wear the European, African, Middle East Theater Ribbon with one bronze campaign star. John M. Gregory, S 2/c, is now in a hospital in Portsmouth, Va. Suffering a fractured skull in Africa he spent some time in a hospital in that country, later being brought to Portsmouth for treat ment. Best of luck, John Milton.
