These sailors seem more interested
in what they are talking about than
they do in being photographed. Or
maybe it is the scenery. The picture
was taken in Waikiki, T. H. On ex
treme left is James Wade, while the one
second from the right is Francis Wade.
They are sons of Mr. and Mrs. Ben
Wade, of Draper, and have been to
gether since their enlistment. Both
were formerly employed in Draper-
Blanket Mill. James’ wile and two
children reside in Draper, while Fran
cis’—better known as “Binky”—wife
and three children are living with her
mother in Danville. Fellows, that pic
ture sure looks good, especially when
this March wind is howling around.

Rotary Clu-b Runs
Weaver For Governor
W. B. Weaver, charter member and
past president of the Leaksville-Spray
Rotary club, is being sponsored by the
local club for election to the office of
Governor of District No. 189, Rotary
International. The " district covers a
large part of central North Carolina.
John A. Holmes, superintendant of
schools at Edenton, and a brother of
James E. Holmes, superintendent of
schools of Leaksville township, is at
present District Governor. By the rules
of Rotary a district governor can not

Mr. Weaver represented the Leaks
ville-Spray Rotary club at the Inter
national convention at Ostend, Bel
gium, in 1927 and a few years ago he
attended the convention in Mexico
City. He is state chairman of the com
mittee for conservation of manpower
in war industries under the U. S. De
partment of Labor, was chairman of
the National Safety Council, Textile
Section, is manager of the Spray Civic
Association and is secretary of the
Leaksville hospital.
Mr. Weaver has been continously
employed by Marshall Field & Com
pany for more than forty years, and
is one of the best liked of all the
“Old-Timers”. If the governorship de
pended on a vote by Marshall Field &
Company’s organization he would be
unanimously elected to the post
Among his several responsibilities with
the Company is the post of editorial
advisor of The Mill Whistle.

S/Sgt. Alvis Boone and wife, the
former Miss Mildred Carter, of Reids-
ville. Sgt. Boone was a recent visitor
in Leaksville, spending a ten day fur
lough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
A. C. Boone, on Walnut street. Before
going into service over three years ago
Sgt. Boone was connected with the
Life and Casualty Co. in the Tri-Cities
and made a host of friends who were
glad to see him for even the few days
he was here.

Credit Union Members
Asked To Turn In Books
The supervisory committee of your
Credit Union requests that all mem
bers mail or send their pass books to
the company’s Personnel Office in Sp
ray. These books are to be used for
inspection only in connection with the
annual audit of your Credit Union and
wall be returned to you immediately
following the completion of the audit.
This request is in accordance with
the requirements of the Federal De
posit Insurance Corporation, the Fede
ral Agency charged with supervisory
control of Credit Unions, as well as the
by-laws of your Credit Union.
