Winners Announced
In Essay Contest
High school students from Leaksville,
Draper and Fieldale submitted so many
splendidly written essays on “What I
Saw On My Visit To The Marshall
Field and Company Exhibit” that the
judges with difficulty selected the fin
est ones among them. The winners, as
announced on June 14th, were:
Leaksville High—1st prize, Ann
Norman; 2nd prize, Shirley Hawkins;
3rd prize, Billy Marshall.
Draper High—1st prize, Herman Coble
Jr.; 2nd prize, Evelyn Hairfield; 3rd
prize. Lament Garrett.
Fieldale High—1st prize. Tommy Wil
son; 2nd prize, Brice M. Stultz, HI; 3rd
prize, John Randolph Smith.
On Wednesday, June 20, the success
ful contestants gathered in the office of
J. F. Wilson to receive their awards
and hear Mr. Wilson commend them on
their success and on the excellence of
their essays. In the picture at right
are shown left to right: Tommy Wilson,
Fieldale; Evelyn Hairfield, Draper;
John Randolph Smith, Fieldale; Shir
ley Hawkins, Leaksville; and Billy
Marshall, Leaksville. Other winners
not present when the picture was made
are Ann Norman, Leaksville; Herman
Coble, Jr., Draper; Lament Garrett,
Draper; and Brice M. Stultz HI, Field

Attention Relatives Of
Service Men and Women
You have been informed that the com
pany is now getting out a booklet in
which it is hoped and expected to have
pictures and service record of all men
and women who have gone into military
service. The company is anxious to in
clude every man and woman who have
gone into service in this booklet. This in
cludes, of course, all men and women
frorn the company who have participat
ed in World War II and who may or
may not now be working for the Com
pany.
The Company, however, does not
have pictures and it is up to you rela
tives and friends to furnish the pictures
if you want your son, daughter, sweet-
