About three v/eeks ago she went to Columbia, S. C. Mrs. Silas Odell and Rita were dinner guests of Mrs. Humphries Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Burley Pulliam were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Windsor of Winston-Salem. On their re turn they brought home Mrs. Pulliam’s grandfather who has been a patient at the Baptist Hospital. Robert Harris has had a severe cold for the past week. Glad you are able to work again, Robert. If you are wondering why William Earles is wearing such a broad grin, well—here’s the dope: he got a brand new Plymouth Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Macey and Mr. and Mrs. Curlis Land had as week-end guests Mr. and Mrs. Hurley Williams. Cora Brannock is sick at this writing. She has had her tonsils removed. Good luck .to you, “Coagie.” Hope you’ll soon be good as new! Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Smith entertained at a Father’s day dinner Sunday. All of the children were present including Mrs. Fowler and family of Danville. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dent motored to Danville last week-end to see the bail game. They also visited Mrs. Dent’s sister, Mrs. Dodson, who has been sick. Well, it looks as though we are going to have a new Weave room with so many new looms replacing the old ones. Mary Smith says she is resigning this week to keep house. Well, Mary, you are a lot of fun and we will miss you. Hurry back. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Nelson were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nelson. No wonder Mr. Nelson is smiling. Did you see what was in that box he brouglit in the mill Monday? Misses Edith and Helen Gilley went to Fairystone Park Sunday. Edith, did you try the same sunburn remedy Helen tried? Blanket Mill By Katherine Turner Miss Lillian Marlow of High Point is spending a vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Marlowe. Miss Mary Lovell and Mrs. W. O. Marlowe visited Rev. and Mrs. P. R. Rayle at Mooresville recently. Mrs. J. D. Young and daughters, Joyce Ann and Beth, spent the week-end with Mrs. Rosa Young. Sgt. J. D. Young and T/4 Bill Galla- her met in Tokyo recently and wrote it was the next thing to coming home. “Army” McGavisk is thrilled over a Christmas present received in June. Lee Frances and Jean Barrow have enjoyed a week’s vacation. We wonder where they went? J. E. Perry is enjoying Fairystone Park. He says the scenery is beautiful. Buddy, spent the week-end visiting rel atives in Virginia. Mrs. W. B. Walker and Miss Ann Davis of Fredericksburg, Va., spent the week with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Walker. We were very glad to see Dan Boone in our department last week. Misses Madeline Hamrick and Ann ette Slayton spent Tuesday in Danville. Miss Madeline Smart of Warsaw, N. C., enjoyed the week-end with her mother, Mrs. Leona Wiseman. Miss Irene Howell was lucky. She was in the mountains for the week-end. Nantucket News By Hazel Carter We wondered why Dr. Reeser’s phone didn’t answer the other day, and so investigated. Doc was busy with screw drivers and such and did a nice job of repair. Anyone needing phone repairs is urged to contact Doc, but we never did find out how it broke in the first place. Mary had a little lamb, and his name was Robert. Gosh, how did we remem- ber that rhyme? Oh, yes! Robert was heard to mention he visited Wilson, N. C., and her name was Mary. That fellow sure gets around! I hear the fellows enjoy looking at that picture D. C. Williams is showing and how about that 2-passenger ham mock? I’ve often heard about the Curb Mar ket, but didn’t expect to see it in Spray. Lois Shelton and Gaynell McCollum were seen bartering some women’s ??? right on the walk through the park ing lot. Catherine Mangan was seen entering Teen Town last week. We hear she is doing a swell job of chaperoning. Joe Hagler and Jimmie Bondurant must have had a tough golf game the other day as they forgot to come back in time to play softball Vvith the Meth odist team, and so the team had to for feit the game. Dorothy Grogan was married to Weldon Reynolds Saturday at the King Memorial Baptist Church. No further details at present, but I’ll bet she made a pretty bride. Velma Redmon Newman and Ethel Redman Ray celebrated their joint 8th wedding anniversary with a quiet (their word) dinner at Martinsville. Congratu lations to both of you. Jeanette Edwards was noted walking to work. Figure or transportation? Kathleen Wise is all agog making plans lor her vacation which includes a nice RED bathing suit which she plans to wear at Virginia Beach. Hope the fishing is good, Kathleen. Cuma Odell just had a nice trip to Columbia, S. C. How was South Caro lina, Cuma? Drop around and tell us so we can report more. Patsy Mabes has now recovered from her sunburn in time to go on a weiner roast at Berry Hill. She looked cute with her hair in plaits with a big RED ribbon. Trying out for Teen Town? Mary Hundley is out sick at this writ ing, and we all hope she recovers quickly. We heard that the Rayon Mill report er, Mildred Saunders, is shopping for a new car but is having trouble finding one with a bump in the back. It seems it was so much trouble getting the bump she has on her present car she wants one equipped with a dent and save her self the trouble of putting one in her self. Della Hawkins has reversed the usual “Gentlemen prefer blondes.” Who was that cute blonde boy we heard you were walking with? We always save the best until last. Geneva Anglin and Amy Campbell are now working in old Nantucket. Hope you enjoy working with us as much as we enjoy having you.
