D. Petty Carl A. Hoehl O. D. Petty, formerly chief accountant for the North Carolina-Virginia mills, has been appointed comptroller of the Zion Lace Curtain Mill, succeeding W. C. Men- drala, who has resigned. The promotion was effective September 1. Carl A, Hoehl, of the General Office, who has been in charge of accounting methods, was moved up to succeed. Petty. In addition to his new duties, he will con tinue to act in a supervisory capacity on accounting methods. A native of Tennessee, Petty received his education at Bowling Green Business University, Bowling Green, Ky., and at Columbia University, where he graduated, majoring in accountancy. Before joining Marshall Field and Company in 193C he spent several years in industry and in public accounting. Hoehl is a native of New Jersey, but he attended high school at Leakaville, living here while his father, the late Edward Hoehl, was superintendent of what is noW the Rayon Mill. He attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, for two years then went on to Columbia where he graduated in accounting, in 1930. He was connected with Price, Waterhou.se and Company, public accountants of New York City, until he joined Marshall Field and Company here in March, 1946. Terminal Leave Blanks k Any former service man who desires to make application lor terminal leave pay to which he is entitled, may secure the blanks at the local post - offices or may secure them from the American Legion, it is pointed out by J. O. Thom.- as, Company veteran’s counsellor. The Draper, Leaksville and Boulevard post offices have already received theirs and the Spray post office was expecting their supply any day. The Leaksville office supply was exhausted last Friday but more had been ordered. Number Four Company To Hold Conference On Human Relations Approximately 160 From Manufacturing Division To Attend Meetings at Natural Bridge September 13-15 “Looking Ahead in Our Industrial Relations’’ is the them.e of a conference for approximately 160 men of Marshall Field and Company, Manufacturing, Di vision, to be held at Natural Bridge Hotel, Natural Bridge, Va., September 13-15. The conference will emphasize the importance of handling human relation ships intelligently in the conduct of business. In addition to addresses by prominent speakers there will be panel discussions and open forums in which all members of the conference will have an opportunity to participate. Those to attend include Luther H. Hodges, vice-president of the Company and general manager of the Manufac turing Division; several sales executives; and the following from the mills: all general executives, mill managers, sup erintendents, department heads and assistants, and all mill foremen. Speakers will include J. L. Palmer, executive vice-president; G. L. Bergen, divisional vice-nresident and personnel manager of the Chicago Retail Store; George Baldanzi, executive vice-presi dent, TWUA; Thomas Spates, vice-presi dent and director of industrial relations.
