Dalrymple Is Appointed
Assistant Superintendent
At Fieldale Towel Mill
The appointment of Neill M. Dal-
rymple as assistant superintendent of the
Fieldale Towel Mill effective November
5, has been announced by H. W. Whit
comb, divisional vice-president of t h e
Company and assistant general manager
of the Manufacturing Division.
A native of Lee County, Dalrymple
went to work at the Towel Mill immedi
ately after graduation from N. C. State
College in 1937 with a B. S. degree in
Textile Manufacturing and worked
through all of the departments in the
mill under the Company’s student train
ing program.
An outstanding athlete, he played bas
ketball and baseball for four years at
State and during his senior year was
captain of the basketball team. He was
named on the All-Southern basketball
team chosen by sports writers. He was
vice president of the senior class and
was voted the college’s most outstanding
athlete. He was a member of the Tex
tile fraternity and other honorary socie
ties.
During the summers he played semi-
pro baseball in the Coastal league in
company with such future stars as Jim
Tabor, Charlie Keller, Ace Parker, Eric
Tipton and others.
Dalrymple left the Towel Mill to go
into service in August 1941. He entered
as a reserve officer in the infantry and
was immediately transferred to the Air
Corps. He served for two years in Porta
Rica and then was stationed in the States
for one and a half years. Following this
he was assigned to a troop transport
making trips from the United States to
France and later to India. When the war
ended he was on a transport on its way
from France to the Philippines.
He is active in civic and athletic af
fairs at Fieldale and is married to a
Fieldale native, the former Miss Kath
leen Whisnant. They have one child, a
boy nine months old.
McBain and Hodges To Attend 25-Year Club Dinner

Boy and Girl Scout Finance Campaign
begins in Tri-Cities today (November
11), and ends November 14.
The fourth annual 25-Year Club dinner
will be held at Central Y. M. C. Friday
evening, November 22, at 7 p. m. Among
those to attend will be Hughston M. Mc
Bain, president of Marshall Field and
Company, and Luther H. Hodges, vice-
president of the Company and general
manager of the Manufacturing Division.
The featured speaker for the occasion
will be James E. Gheen, New York City
public relations counsellor and nationally-
known after-dinner speaker. His record oj
having spoken in 43 states and in Canada,
to audiences of all sorts and sizes, in 835
different cities and towns, is an enviable
one and a pleasant evening is assured.
Harold W. Whitcomb, divisional vice-
president of the Company and assistant
general manager of the Manufacturing Di
vision, will preside over the program.
Membership in the 25-Year Club has
reached 410, including 36 at Zion, and 17
in Chicago and New York. Seventy new members will attend the dinner this year.
Forty-eight members of the club are retired under the Marshall Field Retirement
Program.
